Life in abundance

"(Jesus said :) I have come so that my sheep have life, and have it in abundance, I am the good Shepherd." John 10: 10,11
"Reject on him all your concern, for he takes care of you." 1 Peter 5: 7

A prison guard finds all the prison doors open. He is desperate and about to kill himself, when one of his prisoners, the Apostle Paul, shouts with a loud voice: "Do not hurt yourself, for we are all here." The man asks a question: "What must I do to be saved?" (Acts 16: 28,30). His despair as guardian in default has no motive, but he sees himself, sinner, before God. He asks the question! The short and simple answer is immediate: "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your house" (Acts 16:31). On the one hand, this basic need to live, on the other, this simple invitation to believe that God wants to give eternal life. The rest of the story shows how the prison guard responded to this offer and converted. His life was changed from that moment.

Even today, how many people "at the end of the roll" are tempted to end life! Statistics show that suicide in France is one of the leading causes of death among young people. For God, there is no desperate case, it offers everyone a solution to make a fresh start, and have a happy life with him. This solution is the faith in Jesus his Son, who gave his life to acquire the forgiveness of God and eternal life, a life "in abundance". He does not promise us a life without worries, without trials, without tears, but he assures us to be by our side. He asks us to abandon to him everything that weighs on us. We can let ourselves be carried by him and savor his unwavering love.
